Why Your Support Matters

According to the Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species, wild populations of white rhinos are listed as near threatened. With illegal hunting for the international rhino horn trade at alarming levels, this is particularly devastating for wild populations of white
rhinos. Civil unrest further exacerbates this crisis, pushing white rhinos closer to the brink of extinction. White rhinos are targeted for their horns, which are unfortunately highly sought after in traditional Chinese medicine and for ornamental purposes, like dagger handles.

By supporting the Toronto Zoo through the Adopt an Animal program, you are joining us in the fight to save and protect species, like the white rhinoceros, from extinction.
